Patient Reviews

“At the recommendation of my personal trainer, Heather Baker, I reached out to Nicole in the summer of 2021; one of the best decisions I’ve made on my journey to wellness. Having sustained a detached bicep, bone-on-bone in both knees and arthritis, I was living with constant stiffness and pain. I’d come to accept this as normal. Little did I know what a difference Nicole’s healing hands would make in my overall well-being. Nicole is a consummate professional whom I trust with every aspect of my body. Nicole’s ability to identify an area that needs addressing is the result of her keen listening skills. After a one-hour session, I feel renewed. I could elaborate at length but suffice it to say that Nicole is the most competent and exceptional physical therapist with whom I’ve ever interacted. Her healing, helping, kind, and compassionate hands and her acute understanding of the body is extraordinary. I am honored to recommend Nicole to any individual who cherishes feeling well and whole in their daily lives.”

I highly recommend Dr. Nicole Dumas. She has helped me with my back and shoulder pain. I lift heavy materials daily and now I’m no longer in a lot of pain at work.

When I say Nikki saved my life, I’m not being hyperbolic. When I first got my EDS diagnosis, I had no resources, I was in so much pain, and I was so traumatized from decades of mistreatment from doctors. Then I found Nikki. She is truly a godsend. She is so knowledgeable about this condition (more so than the 100’s of doctors I’ve seen). She didn’t just give me basic PT & send me on my way. She taught me about proper posture, positioning, movements regarding EDS, endless (in a good way lol) exercises to build strength, and she somehow also manages to fix all my problem areas and get them feeling good so I can make it to our next session. Her expansive and professional knowledge of EDS is so *valuable* to this community, I can’t put it into words. She taught me everything I know about living well with EDS.Most of us with EDS are familiar with medical trauma and falling through the cracks because still in 2022, most doctors don’t know anything about it. That makes it really, really, really hard to get the medical help and assistance we need. Nikki taught me enough to be able to navigate this so much better. And she has connected me with the resources that are available. Not to mention, she’s taught me lifesaving information about EDS, things doctors NEED to know in certain situations but never ask because again there’s a severe lack of EDS knowledge amongst doctors. Even in MA, even in Boston, I’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of doctors and the only person who knew about EDS was a periodontist.Nikki is my lighthouse. Whenever the pain is too much to bear and I panic because I don’t know what to do or I’m having an issue and don’t know who to call or ask about it - she’s there. And she’s there with practicality. She’s always fixed the problem causing the pain, gives me things I can do at home, and if appropriate she directs me to additional resources. Many of us with EDS know how easy it is to sublux things. Nikki knows how to gently and safely “put things back together” and even if something subluxes a few days later - sometimes I can fix it myself due to what Nikki has taught me. Or it’s manageable enough to get through until I see her again. I often arrive in her office close to tears because of pain and built up feelings of hopelessness and every single time I leave, my pain has dramatically decreased, I’m smiling, and maybe I notice the sunset on my way home :)I cannot understate how much Nikki and Recovery Sports Therapy has changed my life. My EDS is manageable, I’m able to continue working, I’m able to do activities that I love (safely). EDS before finding Recovery Sports Therapy was like a black hole for me. I struggled *so much* physically and mentally. But having EDS after finding Recovery Sports Therapy - I feel like I can do this. I feel like I can do anything.I have EDS so of course this review was mostly geared towards other EDSer’s looking for PT. But I think it’s important to say that I would come to Recovery Sports Therapy for *ANY* physical therapy you might need. Nikki is that good. After working with her for about 4 years, it is so clear that her expertise and skill level go above & beyond. There is nobody else I’d send my loved ones to for PT. I trust Nikki and Recovery Sports Therapy more than anyone else and my trust is not earned easily. Recovery Sports Therapy goes out of their way to ensure the comfort and safety of each and every one of their patients. It’s often very hard for me to go to any sort of medical appointment but I never ever have a problem or panic attacks going here. I always feel so safe, welcome, and diligently cared for and that means so much.Recovery Sports Therapy has no competition because they simply ARE the best in this entire state. I’ve spent the last 8 years seeing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of doctors, specialists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, etc etc.I owe everything to Nikki and Recovery Sports Therapy and I am so freaking grateful. You will not regret coming to Recovery Sports Therapy, you’ll only regret NOT coming.

I 100 percent recommend Dr. Nicole Dumas as a physical therapist for anyone with a connective tissue disorder or other complex health condition. She's one of the very few physical therapists I've worked with who understands what it is like living with chronic pain and fatigue. I see her regularly for dry needling of spasming/painful muscle areas, direction for exercise, manual work, and advice/discussion on topics related to wellness/feeling-better. Great personality and bedside manner, knowledgeable, and supportive.
